She used to be such a nice girl: Gwyneth Paltrow shatters her clean cut image by dropping the C-word

By Marcus Barnes

Can C it going wrong: Gwyneth Paltrow used the c-word during an appearance on the Chelsea Handler show

Gwyneth Paltrow may have been keen to cultivate an image as a domestic goddess.

However, on chat show Chelsea Lately, she killed it off in one fell swoop.

The actress has been dismantling her clean cut, butter-wouldn't-melt public persona.

But her latest effort to break the mould may have gone too far after the actress used the much maligned c-word during an appearance to describe her grandmother on Chelsea Handler's chat show.

Scroll down to watch the video.

The 38-year-old actress was invited on the show, which goes out at 11pm every weekeday, to speak about her cookery book My Father's Daughter.

Midway through their chat Gwyneth and Chelsea came to the realisation that they both had German grandmothers who were mean, and with the same first name.

After Chelsea, 36, said her relative was "a real bitch", Gwyneth retorted: 'Mine was a real c***'.

The word was bleeped out but eagle-eyed viewers will still be able to lip read and work out what she'd said and the reaction of those around her was a testament to that.

After the actress dropped the C-word, Chelsea recoiled with laughter and the audience broke out into a round of cheers and applause.

You've changed: The actress also explained her change in lifestyle giving up on eating healthy when she was pregnant with daughter Apple

When they died down Gwyneth went on to explain that her 'Mutti', her mother's mum, was full of spite.

Gwyneth said: 'She just hated my guts, basically, and she tried to poison my mother against me.'

'She must not have been very happy and she must have had a lot of pain because she was as mean as hell.'

During the chat Gwyneth also explained why she kicked her macrobiotic diet to adopt a more 'normal' approach to eating.

She cited her late father Bruce Paltrow's battle with cancer as inspiring her to eat healthier.

Family: Gwyneth with her late father Bruce Paltrow and mother Blythe Danner in 2002

Gwyneth told Chelsea: 'The reason why I started eating healthy was because I was trying to get my dad to eat healthy when he was diagnosed with cancer.

'He was disgusted by all my health food, he was like "This is disgusting, this is like biting into cardboard, I hate this food".

'I was trying to get him to cure his cancer by eating and I got into eating healthy too. Then, when I got pregnant with Apple, I could not eat any healthy food I was like Baskin Robbins, french fries and I never looked back.'

In recent months Gwyneth has been chipping away at her holier-than-thou image and putting herself out there - proving to be a lot more fun and edgy than it may have seemed.

Gwynning formula: The actress' recent forays into singing and comedy have shown a whole new side to her

She's tried her hand at singing and comedy, with appearances in U.S. musical smash Glee - as well as working with Cee Lo Green and recording her own album.

At the Oscars she was asked who she'd like to work with, and she answered Jay-Z, explaining: 'I think we’d be a good combination. He is a genius — and I’m his biggest fan.'

And, in a possible attempt to prove she's got the necessary skills to collaborate with the rap mogul, Gwyneth had a go at rapping on the Ellen Degeneres Show last week.

She rhymed along to the infamous track Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot while shaking her backside.

And it was all Yellow: Gwyneth Paltrow pays a fashion tribute to husband Chris Martin's hit song at her recipe book signing

By Georgina Littlejohn

The good wife: Gwyneth Paltrow paid tribute to husband Chris Martin's song Yellow in a pretty satin dress at a signing for her cook book in Los Angeles yesterday

It was the breakthrough song that shot Coldplay to fame and fortune as Chris Martin crooned about unrequited love.

So it was only fitting that the love of his life should pay tribute to her pop star husband by wearing the colour that put him on the music map.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a pretty yellow satin dress as she held a signing for her new recipe book in Los Angeles yesterday.

The below-the-knee dress, which she teamed with Rachel Roy shoes, clung to her curves as she posed for the cameras at the Williams-Sonoma kitchenware store in Beverly Hills.

The book is called My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness.

It includes her favourite family recipes and she shares personal stories of her father Bruce, who died in 2002 and inspired her to cook.

Canary chic: The dress clung to Gwyneth's slender figure and the bright colour suited her skin tone and blonde hair

Gwyneth also explained why cooking is really important to her and said: 'I think the importance of eating together as a family and making homemade food that is nourishing and good for you.

'My dad used to really talk to us when we ate dinner and see what we thought about things, and now I use that opportunity to do the same.'

Actress-turned-author: Gwyneth is surrounded by copies of her cook book as she sat down to sign some for fans

She spent two hours signing books and meeting fans who had patiently queued in the store to meet her.

Last week, she appeared on US chat show Rachael Ray, she said she encourages her children to get involved in the kitchen too.

The 38-year-old also revealed that her young son Moses could be a budding chef in the making.

Sharing the culinary love: Gwyneth proudly holds up a copy of her book with recipes inspired by her late father Bruce

She said: 'My five-year-old can crack an egg like nobody’s business. You could give him a dozen eggs. It’s like… no shell in there, it’s perfect, clean and perfect every time.'

Coldplay had their first hit song with Yellow on 2000, two years before front man Martin met the Oscar-winner.

It appeared on their debut album Parachutes and also gave the band their first top ten hit in the UK and the US.

Gwyneth Paltrow cries as she reveals hidden family tragedy on U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are

By Daily Mail Reporter

Gwyneth Paltrow cried as she discovered the moving past of her family in the U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are

Gwyneth Paltrow was moved as she found out one of her ancestors was a revered rabbi said to have stopped a fire from consuming a village.

Appearing on the U.S. version of Who Do You Think You Are, the actress, who is married to British rocker Chris Martin, travelled to Barbados to find out about her heritage.

First she looked into her mother's side of the family and stories that her great grandmother was born on the Caribbean island.

Moved: The actress cried as she found out one of her ancestors was a revered Rabbi, said to have stopped a fire from consuming a village

But it turned out it was her great grandmother who was born there - and left for New York at 18 on a commercial boat with her sister in search for a better life.

Speaking to a historian in Barbados, she found out Rosamund Stout was orphaned at 13 and was then probably affected by the emancipation of the black population in the island in the late 19th century.

As a seamstress, her job would have been affected by young black women willing to do it for a lower wage.

Looking back: A picture of Gwyneth's great great grandfather Simon

There were also more women than men on the island, so there would have been competition for a husband, Paltrow was told.

'I think it was very brave of her to leave with her sister and I really like that. sense of "I can make something of my life",' she said.

'I have the same self-belief and I've always credited that to my father.'

Search: Gwyneth's search took her to Barbados where she found her great grandmother Rosamund Stout was orphaned at 13 and emigrated to New York

Paltrow then decided to look into the mother of her grandfather Buster, who was said to have been uncaring and even mentally unstable.

She found out that his mother Ida had a bright future as a teacher until she was mysteriously kicked out of college.

It emerged that the same year she lost both her mother - to cirrhosis of the liver - and her brother.

Other records showed that one of her daughters died aged three, run over by a wagon, while she was pregnant with another child.

'I can only imagine it's the loss of her daughter that really spun her out, then the hormones of having the baby right away while being in the depths of depression of the loss of a child really made her incapable of caring for them.

'I wish I could share this information with my grandfather. He didn't have any compassion for her at all and maybe this would have changed that.'

Tragedy: Gwyneth's great grandmother Ida's daughter died aged three, run over by a wagon, while she was pregnant with another child

But the most emotional revelations came from her father's side of the family.

Paltrow looked into stories that her great-great-granddad Simon Paltrovich was a rabbi.

She found out his father was also a rabbi - and according to a memorial book by Holocaust survivors from his Polish community, he had incredible powers.

The book said he was 'a great holy man and master of Kabbalah' and told of a fire that erupted in the town and was heading towards the Jewish neighbourhood.

Reading from a translation, Paltrow said the rabbi 'went out to the balcony of his house, waved his handkerchief towards the fire and the fire was extinguished.'

No compassion: A young Gwyneth and her gradfather Buster, who knew nothing of his mother's traumatic past

The actress, who also studies Kabbalah, said: 'This is all blowing my mind.'

She also found a book written by her great-great grandfather that was lovingly dedicated to his father.

'We have a long line of people loving their fathers in my family,' she said.

'It's funny because you have these like echoes of your own relationships. It's amazing to see so many parallels that keep coming together.'

She added: 'I've come to understand all these pieces of myself and that's very impactful to me.'

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Sexiest Dress Ever

Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t the woman who normally attracts attention with her outfits, but at the screening of her new film Country Strong she surprised everyone with a daring floor-length white Emilio pucci dress. This definitely has been her most sexiest dress ever.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Sexiest Dress Ever

From the front the dress looked very demure, but the back side of it was slashed right down over her hips, and was held together only with of criss-crossing tie. The slit ran down her leg, giving onlookers a chance to see that Gwyneth Paltrow wasn’t wearing any underwear

Gwyneth Paltrow In Gold Calvin Klein - Oscar Gala 2011

Beautiful! Gwyneth and Calvin can do no wrong.
Gwyneth Paltrow definitely has her haters, but remember Shakespeare in Love? Or Emma? Vintage Gwynnie ruled! As such, we’re glad her Oscars outfit felt like a bit of throwback. The actress went minimal in a shiny champagne Calvin Klein column dress with a geometric neckline. She spiced up the ensemble with a multicolored Louis Vuitton brooch on her hip (which we could do without) and coordinating earrings (which we found extremely rad). We couldn’t get a look at her shoes (long dresses make it hard!), but they are apparently Brian Atwood gold leather pumps.
