New Fans Nominated by Lady Gaga in V Magazine #69

V Magazine: “New Fans: Little Monsters, Nominated by Lady Gaga”
To call Lady Gaga’s adoring legion of followers mere fans would be a criminal understatement…Meet a few of our favorites from an online open call we hosted last November. The results of an exclusive V online casting call are published in a collage of Little Monsters, with hundreds of fans paying tribute to Lady Gaga.  After, 8,000+ submissions, here are 200 of the very best!

New Faces: Nominated by Natalie Joos in V Magazine #69

V Magazine: “New Faces: Nominated by Natalie Joos”
A collage depicts the newest and most beautiful faces in fashion, nominated by V casting director Natalie Joos. Including already familiar faces such as; Julia Saner, Melodie Monrose, Arizona Muse, Kirsi Pyrhönen, Ashley Smith, Caroline Brasch-Nielsen, Sun Feifei, Ann Kenny and Daphne Groenveld.

Sky Ferreira in V Magazine #69

V Magazine: “New Bubblegum: Sky Ferreira, Nominated by Katy Perry”
Pop stars often come prepackaged, but 18-year-old Sky Ferreira is making her ascent with the help of good old-fashioned, bleached-blonde ambition.

The Smith Westerns in V Magazine #69

V Magazine: “New Band: The Smith Westerns, Nominated by Ryan McGinley”
In the year and a half since they released their self-titled debut (most of which was recorded in Kakacek’s basement), the trio has toured the world with fellow indie rockers Girla, been kicked out of Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg (reportedly for peeing in the garbage cans), and won the affection of influential fans like Ryan McGinley, who recently sat down with the trio in New York City to talk about their past tour, new album, and overall rock aesthetic.

Sam Adams by Hedi Slimane in V Magazine #69

V Magazine: “New Rapper: Sam Adams, Nominated by Hedi Slimane”
The 23-year-old rap sensation boasts the kind of success story that both inspires and infuriates other aspiring musicians. When asked how a college student from Boston goes from being unknown to selling out 3,000 capacity venues in less than a year, Adams himself can only laugh and say, “You know, it just kind of happened.”

V Magazine: “Best of 2010”

V Magazine: “Best of 2010”
What do you call a year that saw tea-party takeovers, trapped miners, mosque mania, oil spills, bad sequels, evaporating equity, and Oprah pulling the plug on her own talk show? A step up from 2009. But amid all the head-scratching headlines and shifting hemlines, the people and things on this page made us laugh, cry, and go “aww” through it all.

[My sources of inspiration] are very English. They are a combination of moods, muses and moments. It is high-tech romance with a twist. It could be literature, art or music. I love street culture, uniforms, Savile Row. I love it all. Men or women. Dead or alive.

NOWNESS.com presents exclusive images from Hywel Davies’ soon to be released book, Fashion Designers’ Sketchbooks. Dries Van Noten
One of a multitude of different ways I begin a collection is to take something I do not find immediately alluring and transform it into something beautiful or challenging. Mauve has never been my favorite colour, yet my disdain for the tone forced me to create a collection mainly in mauve.
