Looks of the day

Who: Rani Mukherjee
Where: P &G Shiksa school building event

Even though Rani is wearing the hottest color of the season, the outfit is not very exciting and it adds pounds to her slim silhouette. The color does look great on her.

Who: Lara Dutta
Where: "Chalo Dilli" Promotions

Lara looks deliriously happy but all I can think about is a big, fat slice of white wedding cake! If only this dress was made of cake:P

Who: Sushma Reddy
Where: Femina Miss India party

OMG, such gorgeous shades of blue. Beautiful bandage dress. Pity about the shoes and the hair.

Who: Shazahn Padamsee, Shraddha Kapoor
Where: Grazia party

Shazahn - This could have an great look if she had worn different colored shoes. The nude shoes although cute, just don't flow with the outfit.

Shraddha - Too bland, Too meh. Flat hair. No

Looks of the day

Who: Sonam Kapoor
Where: "Thank you" promos in Dubai

Beautiful colors, great accessories and glossy hair cant hide the fact that the dress looks like a fancy window dressing. I bet the drawstring around Sonam's neck can be used to lower or hike up the hemline like the window dressing it so resembles:P

Who: Lara Dutta
Where: "Challo Dilli" first look

I like this from the waist up. The hair and makeup are lovely, as is the color of the jumpsuit. The gold belt adds a glam touch. If this were a dress, I would have loved it. Of course, because it’s a jumpsuit, I just can’t fully embrace it.

Who: Shraddha Kapoor
Where: Y Films for youth launch

Shraddha is looking very chic and classy in the black brocade skirt( Zara??) and red top. I do like the socks but cant make up my mind regarding the shoes. What do you think - do the shoes make or break the outfit?

Who: Sarah Jane Dias
Where: "Game" promos

Sarah in a hot pink dress with blue shoes and white clutch. I think the blue shoes was a great idea but not happy with the execution. Some other style maybe??

Who: Madhuri Dixit
Where: "Maha Challenge"

Graceful as ever!

Spotted around town

Who: Bipasha Basu
Where: Tommy Hilfiger shoe launch

Havent seen Bipasha in ages!! She looks youthful and fresh in a strapless, flowy floral dress. She smartly balanced the multi-hued combo with a black belt, clutch and tan shoes. She kept her makeup light and best of all, she has changed her hairstyle!

Who: Kangana Ranaut
Where: "Game" movie launch

Love the colors and print of this dress. It does look like an old wallpaper but I like. And the best part is her shoes. Brilliant!! I think she put them on by fluke- she cant be that fashion savvy. The only bad part is the fit of the dress - its so shapeless:( No wonder she is grumpy.

Who: Shraddha Kapoor, Sarah Jane Dias
Where: Lakme fantasy collection launch, "Game" movie launch

Both, Shraddha and Sarah, wore my current favorite shade of pink - a dull, dusty pink. Of the two, I like Sarah's outfit better. Shraddha's outfit looks like lingerie. The baby doll style combined with gauzy fabric reminds of Victoria's Secret stuff.

Who: Lisa Haydon
Where: Lakme fantasy collection launch

The purple lining on Lisa's jacket is so quirky, no? It adds some jazz to a boring blazer-skirt combo. She wore an asymmetrical top underneath which again is very unexpected. Yay to Lisa's interpretation of the traditional suit.

Who: Ira Dubey, Surily Goel
Where: At her store launch, Tommy Hilfiger shoe launch

Ira - She is too thin. Clothes just hang on her. Eat! Carbs love you. Love them back!

Surily - Isn't her clutch adorable? Goes so well with grey dress.

Spotted around town.

Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: "Saat Khoon Maaf" promos

We have been seeing this silhouette a lot lately and I have mixed feelings about it. It always looks like the person has tied a cape around the waist. The color is beautiful against her skin tone and the shoes also work but it will take me sometime to get around this style.

Who: Sushmita Sen
Where: Marigold Fine art event

Havent seen the fabulous Ms Sen in a long time. Love her chic outfit - the black accent at the waist gives definition to the look and totally elevates it. This kind of clean, streamlined silhouette looks best with simple, unfussy shoes.

Who: Chitrangada Singh
Where: "Lets Design" finals

Its great to see celebs embracing bright bold colors. Chitrangada looks gorgeous in a red, strapless grecian gown. The only issue with this style is that you look pregnant if the photographer catches you at the wrong angle!

Who: Neha Dhupia
Where: Elle cup and IIFA promotional event

Neha in a lace dress at an event. I am trying to figure out whats goin on near her neck area. It looks very clumsy and spoils the dress. Doesn't the reflection in her sunglasses give her alien eyes?

Who: Shradda Kapoor
Where: Elle cup and IIFA promotional event

Bold color, great dress and an overpowering hairstyle! The ends of her plait looks like rat tails and all I can think about is that she has some dead animal on her head!!

Red Carpet Event:Stardust awards 2011

Who: Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha

Anushka is elegant and lethal in a beautifully draped dress. I havent seen Anushka in a gown and she looks incredibly alluring in this color. Thankfully, she didnt add any necklace and kept it simple with silver earrings.
Sonakshi does love this style since she already owns this dress in mustard yellow. The pulled back hair, silver pumps - all give it a very sophisticated, chic look. Two thumbs up to the lovely color.

Who: Amrita Puri, Mehr and Arjun Rampal, Twinkle Khanna

Amrita wore a dusty pink, bodycon dress. I think the dress is rather cute with the over-sized flower but not happy with her shoe choice.
Its impossible to get a clear picture of what Mehr is wearing since she is clinging to her husband in very shot. Seeing how delicious Arjun looks, I can hardly blame her!
Twinkle wore an asymmetrical silver dress, teamed with silver shoes and earrings. I wish she had gone one size up becoz right now she looks tightly wrapped in a silver foil!

Who: Suzanne Roshan, Prachi Desai, Shraddha Kapoor

Like the streamlined look of Suzanne's dress and its a pity we cant clearly see the McQueen skull clutch.
Prachi - OMG, who did this to you??It should be a crime for anyone to step out in such a horrific outfit.
Shraddha - The skirt is very interesting and would have worked with a simple tank top. The clutch is too shiny for me.

Who: Neha Dhupia, Sophie Choudry

Neha wore a yellow/black Shane and Falguni outfit. Its a very striking dress and I think she does justice to this dress with her sleek, shiny hair and smokey eyes.
I love everything about Sophie's dress but wish someone more interesting had worn it.

Who: Rani Mukerjee, Sonali Bendre, Kajol

Black/gold is a very safe and boring combination on the red carpet. But the addition of the red blouse/top, upgrades this look. Smart choice, Rani.
I like how Sonali added a skinny belt to her red saree resulting in a silhouette different from a normal saree. I just wished she had worn a less glitzy top.
Kajol is one of my favorite actress but her dress choices really confound me!

Looks of the day

Who: Aishwarya Rai
Where: Filmfare party

If you took the saree that Katrina wore for the Apsara awards, 2011 and dyed it blue, this is what you will get. Aishwarya in a net/velvet Manish Malhotra(who else?) saree. Similar hairstyle as Katrina and similar kundan earrings. Not only are we sharing designers but also hairstylists and jewelers. What love!!

Who: Sonakshi Sinha
Where: Filmfare Party

I like the dress on her, she looks good. Love her eye makeup but not her lip-color.

Who: Urmila Matondkar, Surily Goel
Where: Filmfare party, Olay Total effects event

There is no way to sugarcoat this so I am just going to say this - I love, love Urmila's outfit!! The sequins dhoti pants just rocks!! And it is beautifully complimented by the gently shading top. The outfit is in perfect proportion to her body. Never knew Urmila had this outfit in her.
Surily wore a pale white batwing dress and paired it with peach colored accessories. I find this shade of white to be very chic and polished and in general have a weakness for one-shoulder dresses.

Who: Shilpa Shetty
Where: Olay Total Effects event

A decent look from Shilpa after a lo-o-ng time. Looks like her stylist is back from Christmas break:P The draping and soft colors give the outfit a very feminine look which goes well with Shilpa's girly image. Thankfully, she did not accessorize.

Who: Prachi Desai
Where:Gitanjali store opening, Filmfare party

Prachi's outfits of the day are very evocative. The first one reminds me of sea-lion and the second one looks like something that used to hang over the couch at my grandmother’s house. In fact, I am going to call my granny to make sure its still there:P

Who: Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor
Where: Filmfare Party

Both the outfits made my day. Anushka does spoil it a little by her choice of accessories. Shraddha is a picture of prettiness.

Who: Sameera Reddy, Raveena Tandon
Where: Filmfare party

Animal prints gone wrong. Sameera wore a leopard print with velvet(??) pants whereas Raveena did a tiger print with satin pants. On second thoughts, Sameera is not that bad - she looks very pulled together and the red lips help. On the other hand, Raveena is beyond fashion redemption.

Red Carpet Event: Apsara awards 2011

Who: Sonakshi Sinha

The beauty of this dress is in the exquisite detailing on the corset top. And what does Sonakshi do? Camouflage it with her Halloween witch hair!! We are smart, aren't we?

All the success has gone to her hair:P

Who: Malaika Arora Khan, Shraddha Kapoor

Malaika brings some serious ooomph to the red carpet in a black, metallic Herve Leger. Red lips and silver accessories completed to her look. Looks like the dress is spray-painted on her:-)
Shraddha opted for a more demure, girly look in a black/pink dress. I like what I have been seeing on Shraddha lately. Some fresh blood in town!!

Who: Priyanka Chopra, Prachi Desai

Forget the disappointing dresses ( disappointing is a mild word for what Prachi has worn). If these nitwits cant even figure out what shoes to wear with these outfits, they really should quit show business!! This is red carpet and I am a deeply superficial person.

Anushka is pretty as hell but so boring. Being a former ramp model, she should know what to wear on the red carpet.
Rani looks like a lampshade. One dress, two ways!!

Eevnts:No One Killed Jessica movie premiere

Who: Rani Mukherjee

Rani wore a showstopping orange-red Donna Karan dress to the premiere that she paired with gold cut out pumps and a gold necklace. The hair and makeup looks beautiful but the dress could not be more unflattering. The fit is awful and the draping is sloppy. Other than the eye-popping color, there is nothing I like here:-(

Who: Vidya Balan

Yikes, whats up with all this bridal red sarees on red carpet? First, Deepika wore it to "Khelein hum Jee Jaam se" premiere and now Vidya. It would have been better if Vidya had stuck to her predictable Sabyasachi sarees.

Who: Kalki Koechlin, Chitrangada Singh

After all that red, Kalki is like a breath of fresh air - understated but chic in a cream saree with all-over leaf motifs which she teamed with a multi-stranded pearl strings.

A misstep by the always fabulous Chitrangada. She wore a Tarun Tahiliani anarkali which really doesnt work becoz of the wide belt. Hand her a sword and she looks ready to do battle!

Who: Shazahn Padamsee, Shraddha Kapoor

Shazahn sticks to cutesy safe formula and gets it right in a leather-velvet dress that fits her beautifully.

I like how Shraddha put together her outfit. She works a couple of popular trends here ( boyfriend blazer and floral top) but makes it look fresh.

Who: Amrita Rao, Kiran Rao

Amrita outfit would have been perfect if she had chosen a brighter color - not the fiery red which seems to be a favorite nowadays but something more youthful.

Kiran wore a delightful Prada Spring 2010 RTW jacket that totally goes with her quirky dressing sense. Its high-time she changed her hairtyle.

Who: Sophie Choudry, Sunita Gowariker

Love the color of Sophie's dress but the look is pretty ho-hum.

Sunita's silk top is fabulous with a luxe feel to it but such a wrong choice of footwear!!

India International Jewellery Week - Day Four and Red carpet

Who: Sagarika Ghatge
Where: On the ramp for Manubhai Zaveri, IIJW 2010

The jewelery - blech and tacky!! Are they trying to get people to buy the stuff or scare them away?? On the good side, the ornate cuffs are decent and the black looks better than beige as a background for the jewelery. What do you guys think?

A quick roundup of the red carpet appearances.

Who: Suzanne Roshan

Suzanne's dress with that bow and cascading ruffle has so much potential but the fit around her waist/bust doesn't seem right. It still works for me but I cant get over the pink and orange?? Eyesore - not working!!

Who: Nishka Lulla

If you are having a feeling of deja vu on seeing Ms Lulla in a red bandage dress, then you are not the only one. Mandira Bedi and Jennifer Winget wore the same dress, different colors and we had a fashion faceoff. See here

I did tweet to Nishka saying the bandage dress has been done to death but she was very keen since she has not worn a bandage before. Have to say, she fills it out beautifully:-) And I admire anyone who wears what they want, damn the public opinion!!

Who: Bhagyashree

This is for all my readers who liked her white outfit yesterday. I am not going to say anything today!! I am goin to keep quite about it looking like a furnishing fabric. Yup, mum's the word. Not a peep abt the "edgy but not going with the outfit" shoes either. Nope, I have taken the vow of silence...

Who: Shraddha Kapoor

You guys should know by know I have a predilection for abstract/quirky prints. I like:-) I like the mismatched shoes too!! Dont like the ugly flower bracelet..

Will you wear this?
Fierce or Fashion Faux Pas??
