A limited edition t-shirt by Jun Takahashi, in exclusive for thecorner.com

Japanese street fashion denizen and designer Jun Takahashi, founder and creative soul of the research brand Undercoverhas designed a limited edition t-shirt exclusively for thecorner.com.

Each year, one designer from thecorner.com has the opportunity to create a t-shirt, playing with the website’s logo.
This unique project, whose past editions have seen the likes of Hussein Chalayan, Les Hommes, Neil Barrett and now Undercover, is also special gift to the clients of thecorner.com.

Black and white, the colors that make up the graphic essence of thecorner.com, the creative whim of Jun Takahashi and the music, background to his creative universe - these are the four elements that define this one-of-a-kind t-shirt.

Jun Takahashi, one of the most acclaimed presences on the international scene, reveals his inspiration: Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious wore this necklace until he died. My Mona Lisa wears the same one. I dedicate this t-shirt to all the rebels out there.”

Area dedicated to the project at thecorner.com:

8 of the world's fashion brands join forces for Japan

WE LOVE JAPAN
Yoox.com has united 8 international fashion brands together to show solidarity for Japan: Ann Demeulemeester, Antonio Marras, Dsquared2, Kitsuné, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni Moschino and Y-3have each created unique one-off designs for a special T-shirt collection that will be sold exclusively on yoox.com. All proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan.

Revolving around the motif “We Love Japan”, each brand’s interpretation is quirky and unique in its own way, while sending the message of unity towards Japan in this time of adversity.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian network and is currently working to provide support to the Japanese population in a moment of environmental and social distress.

Are you a flip flop snob?

I could actually date the origins of this post back to last Summer, where I was once again bemoaning the demise of my £1 Primark flip flops after only a couple of days.
Previously I had never thought of flip flops as something worth investing in...I mean surely foam and plastic were one and the same no matter what the price?

I got mixed responses, some people, like me simply replaced the cheap pair with another cheap pair (I easily spent £20 doing this, and the rest!)
The others swore by Havianas, lasting them all Summer and beyond making them worth the price tag.

Enthused by this news I ordered two (pink and black, because I couldn't decide) of Havianas, although I am yet to wear them because face it...it's hardly flip flop weather outside right now...and by this point it was the end of last Summer and time to move on to more covered shoes.
I'm looking forward to breaking in these pillows of heaven (if hype is to be believed) and apparently saving myself time and money in not constantly having to replace...
but is this true?
Have I been suckered in, or are these really superior footwear? I don't give harsh wear to my flip flops...a quick trip to the shops, or pottering around the house and garden is about my limit, so I'll admit my hopes are high.
What is your experience?

Here are some styles catching my eye right now!

My classic black pair, still sat pristine inside the box waiting for warmer days (blue feet are SO last season)

I really like the FIT style, they look like a comfier alternative to gladiator type sandals that kill my feet, and yet I still insist on wearing!

Silver...because everyone's feet need a bit of bling (except mine which fail to turn even the slightest bit golden in the Summer and therefore metallic make them look like corpse feet)

This is the other pair I have. I'm a girly girl who loves pink, and when I find the perfect slouchy jeans I plan to wear these with pride.

SO,
opinions wanted! Have I wasted my money,
will I be left sobbing on my way to Primark to hand over my last £1 for some emergency replacements
or am I right in thinking it's ok to become a bit of a flip flop snob?

I'd also like to know where you get your old faithfuls from.

Love the candy stripes of these shorts I am also on the look out for pink denim cut offs. I will lose the black tights and team them with slouchy boots when it gets warmer to totally channel Isabel Marant

Also you might have noticed that the Topshop boots in this post here that I took back because they were uncomfortable are now on my feet well I really regretted taking them back and search ebay and found a pair. Do you guys ever do that?? Oh and I just want to add that I wore them for a bout 6 hours the other and they were fine.

Weekend Wearing

The trouble with weekends is they disappear far too fast, in 24 hours I will be primed and ready for work and wishing away the working week
(I really do love my job, but It has made me cherish the weekends in a way I never have before!)

This first outfit is actually Friday, not weekend as such, and it's a recent repeat. The only change being different tights and new.shoes.

(adding shoe photography to my "work on skills" list)

Yesterday I made a return to the 17 year old me, for this outfit was standard every day wear. Whatever the occasion.
Now, as you know, I'm not really a jeans and tee girl, BUT when I was this t-shirt from Designer Desirables
Even with a very generous (thank you) discount this tee was more expensive than any other I own
and I was actually quite bemused by my own reaction to the thought of NOT having it. Most of the time I am fairly "oh well, if it's too expensive then I just can't have it" but this,
this piece of pink cotton just would not stop haunting my thoughts.

And so it became mine.

Photobucket

I am pretty sure that on a cost-per-wear basis it will soon pay for itself anyway!

I just wanted to add a few words about Designer Desirables as it is a shop I'd not come across before last week (another Twitter gem)

The stock designers from Olivia Rubin to Lipsy and Pinko to Delicious Couture (the makers of my tee)
Service was fast and ever so friendly, so I would urge you to give them a look!
You can also follow them on twitter, here for friendly banter and the latest arrivals.

And finally, because it's Sunday, I couldn't leave this post without some gratitudes:

- To Charli for her all round loveliness and sensitive interview skills.

- To Mum...it's Mother's day and I don't think there are enough hours within it to show how much I love you.

- To you ALL, once again for the amazing support and feedback. I hope you realise how appreciated it is.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend,
Happy Mother's day to all the Mummy's out there...you are amazing.

Acne Jewellery Capsule Collection with Husam El Odeh

Starting from mid March 2011, Acne will launch an exclusive jewellery capsule collection at thecorner.comthe online boutique showcasing a selection of cutting-edge fashion and accessories for men and women through dedicated mini-stores.

The Metalized shell collection exclusively conceived for thecorner.com is based on the Spring/Summer 11 Seafindings Jewellery collaboration between Husam el Odeh and Acne.

“When we first talked about collaborating with Husam about two years ago, I recall saying that I was hoping for an ongoing exploration, a relationship rather than a one night stand. Our collaborations have definitively developed into a creative love affair. There is no one I’d rather work with on this exclusive project for thecorner.com.”
Jonny Johansson

“For thecorner.com we wanted to give the romanticism of seaside findings a bit of a graphic edge. The luxurious materials keep a rawness juxtaposed with inserts and clean lines. It is an exercise in two materials, cold hard metal and warm soft shell, both picking up elements from one another. All pieces are handcrafted in London and individually unique as every piece of shell is hand-carved.”
Husam El Odeh

The collection consists of five styles including earrings, cuffs, double rings, rings and bangles. Every piece comes in a numbered edition of between 5 to 25 depending on style and material. They are all handmade with individually carved seashells on a base of either silver plated brass or solid sterling.

Skirt River Island (old), Vest H&M, Hat H&M, Boots H&M (old), Necklace Gift

I have been hanging around in H&M all week sadly my local Topshop has moved to a smaller premises while they refurbish which means less stock and by the looks of things even less deliveries of new stock so I had to find a new lunch time hang out.

I have found some amazing things. The black knitted vest is my fav I also brought it in a pretty coral colour and at the bargain price of £7.99 who could blame me. The hat is also from H&M as well as the friendship bracelet. I also brought a pretty crochet dress I find I prefer H&M's SS collection to there AW collection what do you guys think?
