James Long Menswear
London - Spring/Summer 2011
The prodigious son of Northampton and as such the heir to its leather-working legacy, James Long is already well-known for his innovative use of the material and hisspring/summer 2011 collection lived up to his considerable promise. This time around we were treated to intricate biker jackets that looked like they had been made from friesian cows alongside predictably great boots. Camo was also re-imagined as paint splodges - think fatigues by Jackson Pollock - while denim was bleached to within an inch of whiteness, knits were dyed and occasionally ran to dressing gown-like length and jumpsuits stopped at the knee. Speaking of getting the jump, like JW Anderson, Long astutely capitalised on the buzz around London Fashion Week by making some pieces available to buy online immediately afterwards, in his case on Asos (and hopefully including the Fabris Lane shades). Refresh and you'll miss them.
